The First Church of Periscope is going to do a 40 day fast from negativity. We will think on things that are positive at all times because we have to renew our minds.  We are starting on Ash Wednesday (February 10, 2016) because it is the first Wednesday that is 40 days out from Resurrection Sunday (i.e. Easter). The ideology is to cleanse yourself spiritually (or physically) and fast from something.  We will be using the 90/10 rule which is to be 90% positive and to be only 10% negative. This will be life changing. Being negative is natural, but being positive is supernatural.

Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

1 Corinthians 13:4, 5 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

Psalms 32:11 be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

Psalms34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

How to accomplish this goal:

For example, if you fast from bread, or sugar, you would simply rid your house of all the bread and sweets. These sugar filled items would not be around to temp you.  You would get rid of the temptation, clean up your area, and replace those things with good things like fruit, berries, vegetables, protein, and more water.  Hence, on this negativity fast, you will also have to watch the people you hang out with, what you watch on television, what you read, watch more of Dr. Sims, journal, and be more grateful every day. Please do not assume and don’t think the worst first.  This is what leads to being negative. Being positive is a choice!

Follow this recipe:

  • Watch the people you’re hanging around.
  • Get yourself a new positivity journal and list 7 positive things that happen to you each day.
  • Think no evil.
  • Buy Dr. Sims’ book “Just What the Doctor Ordered” which is a 21 day prescription on how to be more positive.
  • Praise more than you complain and you will think negatively less often.
